This is pretty big. One of the largest grocery chains has committed to stop selling any fish on the “Red List”, which is to say any fish that is harvested non-sustainably or is a threatened species. Along with the usual orange roughy, atlantic cod and chilean sea bass… they also have listed redfish. Pretty amazing. Now if we could just get the NCDMF to realize that redfish are not a sustainable commercial fishery, we will be getting somewhere.
*Update* Apparently the redfish to which they are referring is not the one that is germaine to our discussion. But at least somebody is paying attention to something.
